You have heard about Gross National Happiness. We think GNH comes to life during the rice planting season. Farmers are truly in a festive mood with the expectations of a bountiful harvest at the end of the year. In our village in Tangsibje Trongsa, our guests have an exclusive opportunity to experience GNH in the paddy fields as you help a local family with their rice transplanting work. The village is known to be one of the highest rice producing villages in Trongsa province, and not surprising one can see extensive paddy fields. Much of the day is spent humming traditional Bhutanese tunes in the fields as farmer’s spend the day transplanting rice saplings. The rice transplanting season is usually in May, but guests can also have the opportunity to be part of harvesting in the months of September and October.
