Trip Description
Bhutan offers a unique destination for rafting in class III and class IV rivers, with incredible rivers that are both challenging and some of the most beautiful in the world. This Rafting/Kayaking in Punatsangchhu’ takes you to the beautiful valley of Punakha and you’ll be paddling on either of these rivers in Punakha – the Pho Chhu (translated male river) and Mo Chhu (translated female river)- which beautifully marries at the confluence of the beautiful Punakha Dzong and becomes the might Punatsangchhu. Rafting on Mo Chhu River is an easy drift down the river passing many scenic villags, which is graded as class II and I; the total distance of this section of the river is 6 km. The starting point is at the base of the Khamsum Yulley monastery, a picturesque spot with a suspension bridge joining the opposite village with terraced rice fields with the road head. Alternatively, if you want a slightly more technical white water – the we have Pho Chhu, which is the most popular for river sports. This river is little technical and a few rapids on the river have names, the Wrathful Buddha and Strainers Paradise.
